I am not a politician, I am a total outsider. As a Chinese immigrant, I am so exhausted pushing from both side of United States where I had been a citizen for 30+ years and Chinese government where I immigrated from. We had this good luck to get picked up by both side. My children were being persecuted by Chinese government who send their cronies here in United States to commit organized crime against humanity.
Reed Galen is an independent, he left Republican party in 2016, but just did not feel Democratic Party particularly appealing either. He later founded the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump political action committee. Last week he was on the interview by David Sirota who is the host of the lever, and gave warning that Democrats are sleepwalking toward a dangerous point of no return.
Reed said the MAGA people were not get elected because they were more popular, they got elected because they went after primaries, where there is a very significant portion of that gerrymandered district that said, this is not what we want. We want something different. A lot of times people got hand up with policy and everything else. We are in an progressive change moment. People want change. DSA is a fairly narrow niche group right now. The Republican party could survive Tea-party because ultimately they had the same philosophical and ideological roots at its core, which is why the Tea party could live with anger and nativism, and nationalism, so long as the money guys got the money, the bomb guys got the bomb, and the church got the church. The left and Democratic party have very different outlooks. The establishment Democrats pine for Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Obama, they believe that neo-liberalism can rise again after Trump leaves office. And now you have progressive economic candidates, who are saying this is not working for anybody. The irony is , there are plenty of Americans who consider themselves small-seat conservative. They are unhappy with what they have. Trump was right in saying that the system screwing you. Bernie Sanders said the same thing. They both had such great energy back in 2016 because there were so much angers.
David Sirota asked, If the pupulist progressive faction game this out, will it ultimately leads to a similar place? He concluded that The populist progressive uprising in the democratic Party is long overdue. It is better late than never. Part of the reason why we are at this place is actually a collusion between Republican revolution inside that party got out of control and went in a terribly destructive place, and the Democratic Party establishment was able to stop any kind of constructive revolution from happening inside of their party. Those two forces essentially collude to create electoral and political conditions for the Republican revolution to win power with an inept, not serious opposition. An opposition that is clinging to a past, a neoliberal sort of Clintonian, Obama, corporate centrist past that will not exist and actually created the conditions for what we’re living through.
They both agree that current Republican party has very little concern with the average American people, whether it is in the city, suburb or rural area, and seemed to be far more concern about securing a spot in the superstructure. This is not unusual because empires tend to have self-dealers who want to make sure to secure the regime . The Powell memo, Leonard Leo, Koch brothers, the Right had all the works hat had been done for 30 or 40 years, when they found a willing vehicle who was able to turn all that stuff into an electoral victory, happy to let those become law, policy, whatever. Where the Republican revolution led – Maga, Trump, and this current moments are not good for the country, but the Left had nothing like that. There is no ideological underpinning for Democratics. The establishment Democratics don’t want to give anything. Could they end up in better place? yeah, how about just back to FDR? Put banking regulations back to place, for example.
David Sirota had written a few books on the current political challenges of United States, including Master Plan: The Hidden Plot To Legalize Corruption In America . For decades, a shadowy network of corporate elites, political operatives, and Supreme Court justices has worked behind the scenes to dismantle campaign finance laws and rig the system in favor of the ultra-wealthy. The 2010 Supreme court ruling that allow corporate to donate election campaign finance had far reaching impacts. In addition many donations from foreign country affect the decision making of American institutions to do fair jobs because their pay check came from outside the country. For example, Congressman Keith Self (R-TX) is pushing legislation that would strip tax-exempt status from American nonprofits that accept donations from citizens of hostile countries. and Sam Bankman-Fried donated over $40 million in the 2022 election cycle with crypto fraud money. The campaign financing had totally deviate from Democratic principle which this country was established.
1990 was the watershed when capital can be freely flow over the borders globally, and the result is money laundry, in addition to central bank printing money which only the privileged class were able to borrow at very low costs. The stock market that had been bull since 2009 had further enlarge the gap of have and have-nots. Causing the wealthy and powerful and buy human organs, and do human trafficking without any consequence, can persecutes other country citizen from afar. Epstein file so far had not punish anyone, leaving the victims to bear the blow of social injustice.
After the housing bubbles burst in the early 1990s, produced sharp economic contraction and protracted deflation in Japanese economy, the Japanese younger generation were robbed off social opportunities that their forebears had enjoyed. An ossified political system that appeared incapable of change, and the inability of Japanese leaders to adapt to the harsh realities of the post-code war era completed the picture of Japan’s inexorable decline. One of the reason is Japanese carry trade where investors borrow the Japanese yen (JPY) at near-zero or ultra-low interest rates and invest in higher-yielding foreign assets, such as U.S. Treasuries, bonds, or other currencies, to pocket the interest rate spread. Because the yen has been the world’s cheapest funding currency for years, it has been the backbone of many cross-border carry trades, especially in the dollar market. Only the privileged were able to have access to such easy money.
Richard Koo, Chief Economist at the Nomura Research Institute in Japan, was invited to deliver the annual keynote speech and share his insights. He noted that while AI is driving Taiwan’s economy forward at a rapid pace, $3 Trillion in Hidden AI Debt: Is This 2008 All Over Again? the rapidly shifting international landscape has introduced uncertainty regarding the economic outlook for the second half of the year; he further cautioned that the AI bubble, the situation in the Middle East, and the policy direction of the Federal Reserve are all variables that warrant close attention. He specifically talked in detail about why United States trade deficits had caused loss in GDP in the last 30+ years.
